The Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center, Como, Italy
To advance public-private-civil society landscape collaborations
This invitation-only gathering of a group of food and agriculture business and sustainability leaders to explore effective collaborations in production landscapes took place at the Bellagio Center, in Northern Italy. Organized by EcoAgriculture Partners as part of a collaborative initiative co-led by EcoAgriculture Partners, SAI Platform, Sustainable Food Lab, and IUCN’s SUSTAIN program, the meeting was a key activity of the Landscapes for People, Food and Nature Initiative’s Business for Sustainable Landscapes Challenge project.
Key messages and more from the workshop are available at the Business for Sustainable Landscapes challenge page.
Global leaders to move beyond buzz to create Action Agenda
In Bellagio, a small, intimate gathering of senior business, government and civil society leaders, who are already leading innovators in landscape partnerships, had an opportunity to move beyond the ‘buzz’ to critically examine:
- The business case for different kinds of companies to pursue landscape strategies in agricultural sourcing regions, based on consultations with businesses prior to the workshop;
- Solutions to common challenges and barriers in implementing effective landscape partnerships, building on an in-depth review of case experience in different parts of the world;
- Key strategic needs and innovations to advance sustainable sourcing of raw materials for business through landscape partnerships; and
- An Agenda for Action after the workshop to address priority actions defined by the Bellagio Workshop participants and the international Advisory Committee.
