Nairobi 2012 International Forum

Nairobi, Kenya

The Nairobi 2012 International Forum was held at the World Agroforestry Center in Nairobi, Kenya, from the 6th through 9th of March. The Forum, designed to craft an innovative agenda to scale-up integrated landscape management in diverse landscapes and multiple countries around the world, catalyzed the formation of the Landscapes for People, Food and Nature Initiative.

The Forum had the following key objectives
  • Examine preliminary findings from the Global Review and draw upon participants’ experience and knowledge of integrated agricultural landscape management
  • Develop an agenda to scale up integrated agricultural landscapes where research and the judgement of leaders in the field suggest they are likely to have the greatest public and private benefits
  • Design a plan of action to work collaboratively in landscapes around the world
  • Facilitate networking among multiple landscape approaches
  • Develop a Call for Action to be presented at Rio +20.
