Description

This toolkit provides practical guidance on using a set of 20 indicators designed to capture communities’ perceptions of factors affecting the resilience of their landscapes and seascapes. Primarily intended for organizers and facilitators of resilience assessment workshops, the indicators can help communities develop strategies to increase their capacity to respond to social, economic, and environmental pressures and shocks and increase their social and ecological resilience.

Where it has been used

The indicators of resilience toolkit has been used in 25 sites across 5 major ecosystems around the world. Case studies from Namibia, Fiji, Turkey and Kenya are included in the toolkit.

How the tool is used for implementing a landscape approach

It helps researchers, communities and development practitioners capture information about the landscape/seascape as a socio-ecological system, taking into account factors that are social, cultural, ecological, political and economic.
